First, as part of the negotiations of a motor vehicle in Costa Rica, it is advisable to check the mechanical functions of the car. Next, it should be performed a registry study to verify that there are no legal problems, encumbrance, or fines on the vehicle.

 The car must also be up-to-date with the payment of annual circulation tax on vehicles, technical review, and be free of encumbrances, annotations, crashes and traffic tickets.

After the completion of the study process to create and sign the transfer deed of sale of the vehicle, you can visit our offices or our notaries can visit for formalization of that act.

The amount to be paid in respect of registration stamps and transfer tax is around 3.5 percent of the tax value reported for automotive.

The notary fees are around 2% of the same value.

The deed for the registration of the vehicle must be signed by the vehicle`s owner, if you are purchasing the vehicle of another person in the same document of registration it can be created the transfer of the vehicle.
